Page 2: Noise Filtering Capabilities
When capturing video from an older source, noise is always an issue. Tapes degrade over time, and cause the picture to get very bad.
This is where the Theatre 550 really shows it isn't quite mature enough to compete with the existing big dogs.
Conexant clearly has much more experience writing the advanced algorithms necessary to keep a clear stable picture.

The bottom line:
The ATI Theatre 550 isn't yet ready for prime time. While it does have a few advantages over the competition, it clearly isn't as mature enough for what I would call "heavy" every-day use.
